KGA Training Expert Cat Care ​

The only training for professional cat sitters! Specialized KGA training to become an Expert in Cat Care as a Cat Caretaker/Cat Sitter, viewed from the cats perspective, called felinocentric.

Become a cat sitter who looks beyond the litter box, water bowl and food bowl! One who understands the behavior, health, emotions and well-being of cats! As a KGA Expert Cat Care you have a unique diploma that stands for cat-friendly and professional cat care, which allows you, as a cat sitter, to excel in applying scientific insights in daily practice. It is a cat-friendly course at higher professional education level.

What will you learn?
You’ll gain insight into the body language of cats and how they show and hide symptoms of illness. The lessons about eating behavior and eating problems and about the emotional life of cats, will show you how to take the best care for cats so that their well-being improves. Based on scientific criteria, you learn to observe the cat and the cat’s living environment and the understand what influence this has on its life. If you already work as a cat sitter with a focus on cat friendliness, you’ll be surprised how many steps can be added to your game. In addition to a rock solid theoretical basis, you’ll get the opportunity to follow practical lessons.

The theory days are given online and on demand, the practical days are also coordinated in mutual consultation. Do you want to do the theory first and then decide whether you want to continue with the practical days? That’s possible too! However, you can only participate in the practical lessons after passing the theory.

The training is based on more than 150 scientific studies, including recent ones.

You will receive a theory lesson folder of more than 550 pages with scientific references by post as a reference work. Online theory exam by appointment.

All lessons are scheduled in consultation. The practical days can be followed as 2 full or 4 half days. The two practical days take place physically in Amsterdam.

Lesson day 4 & 5-Practice
You’ll get training in applying scientific principles in daily practice, and will also receive a practical lesson folder to fill in during the cat sitting visits.

Lesson day 4: You will learn how to put the theory into practice, taking into account the well-being of the cat and the wishes of the owners.

Lesson day 5: This is also the practical exam day, where you can show that you can work independently and that you are ready to start as a professional and cat-friendly cat sitter and that your work implies the KGA’s felinocentric approach.

KGA Expert Cat Care

After passing the 5-day Expert Cat Care training, you might want to join the team of the KGA Kattenoppasservice.
That’s also possible next to other cat sitting activities. The advantage of joining the KGA team, is that you stay tuned on the latest scientific developments in the cat sitting field, and that you can consult the teachers about the best approach in daily practice, plus the added bonus of following free online training for half a day per year. Practical lessons

It is only possible to register for these practical lessons in Amsterdam after passing the theory, or if you have followed the theory or practical in the past, and you want to follow a practical update again.
